Veteran Bangladeshi film actress Anwara Begum and renowned actor, radio artist, film and Television personality Raisul Islam Asad have been selected for the Life Time Achievement Award by the government of Bangladesh as part of the National Film Awards 2020.

NITI Aayog in association with PhonePe will launch the Fintech Open Hackathon. The Hackathon will provide an opportunity for innovators, digital creators and developers from all over India to think, ideate and code.

International News:

The air forces of Bangladesh and the US will conduct a joint air exercise between Feb 20-25. The six day long Pacific Air Forces-sponsored, bilateral tactical airlift exercise ‘Cope South 22’ will be conducted at BAF Kurmitola Cantonment, Dhaka, and Operating Location-Alpha, Sylhet, Bangladesh, said a statement of the Pacific Air Forces.

National News:

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi delivered the inaugural address at The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) World Sustainable Development Summit.

President Ram Nath Kovind today accepted credentials from four envoys at Rashtrapati Bhavan. They are High Commissioner of Tanzania Ms. Anisa K. Mbega, Ambassador of Djibouti Mr. Isse Abdillahi Assoweh, Ambassador of Serbia Mr. Sinisa Pavic and Ambassador of North Macedonia Mr. Slobodan Uzunov.

Government approved a new scheme New India Literacy Programme for the period Financial Years 2022 to 2027 to cover all the aspects of Adult Education to align with National Education Policy 2020 and Budget Announcements 2021-22. The estimated total outlay of New India Literacy Programme is over one thousand 37 crore rupees which includes Central share of 700 crore rupees and State share of over 337 crore.

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal launched two barges at Haldia, to carry steel to Pandu port in Assam via Bangladesh from Haldia through Indo-Bangladesh Protocol No. 1 waterway. The barges named APJ Abdul Kalam and Kalpana Chawla are carrying TMT steel bars of 1798 metric tonnes. The barges are being pulled on by a tug named Ram Prasad Bismil.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar launches the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED) at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi for the welfare of De-notified, Nomadic and Semi Nomadic Communities.

The 8th Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure, led by the Indian Ministry for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy was held virtually. Work Plan 2022 signed between India and Germany to strengthen Quality Infrastructure, reduce technical barriers to trade, enhance product safety and strengthen consumer protection.

Singing legend Sandhya Mukherjee, also known as Sandhya Mukhopadhyay passed away.

Karnataka’s Samanvaya Kavi Nadoja Channaveera Kanavi passed away.

State News:

4-day biennial Medaram Tribal Fair has begun in Mulugu district. The Tribal Festival is considered to be Asia’s largest tribal fair celebrated over four days every two years at Medaram village, which is about 250 kilometres from Hyderabad.

Minister of State for Culture & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal launched the career counselling workshop ‘Pramarsh 2022’ for the students of the Bikaner District region. In this workshop one lakh students participated from more than thousands schools of Bikaner district mainly from rural area.
