Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will launch a major e-governance initiative – the Electronic Bill processing system as part of ease of doing business and Digital India eco-system on the occasion of 46th Civil Accounts Day celebration in New Delhi.
International News:
US President Joe Biden announced closure of American airspace for Russian aircrafts.
Nepalese Parliament approved a $500 million U.S. government aid program Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) overcoming domestic political divisions and objections from China.
Bangladesh signed two separate agreements with Asian Development Bank (ADB) for loans worth USD 292 million. The agreements were signed in Dhaka. The first loan worth USD 157 million is being provided to mitigate flood and riverbank erosion risks. The ADB also approved an additional loan of USD 135 million to improve access to and quality of inclusive water supply services.
National News:
President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated a hub of medicinal herbs and plants ‘Arogya Vanam’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan.The Arogya Vanam has been developed in a 6.6 acre area and it has 215 types of medicinal plants like Neem, Tulsi, Bel, Arand, Arjun, Ashwagandha and Harsingar.
Indian Air Force joined ‘Operation Ganga’ to evacuate Indians from war-hit Ukraine. Indian Air Force’s C 17 transport aircraft carrying humanitarian assistance left for Romania from Hindan airbase. The aircraft will bring back Indian citizens stranded in Ukraine.
Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani launched the new motto of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) ‘भविष्यो रक्षति रक्षित:’, on its 17th foundation day at Red Fort, New Delhi.
Sports News:
Saurabh Chaudhary clinched India’s first gold medal at International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Cairo, Egypt. The 19-year-old Indian defeated Michael Schwald of Germany.
State News:
Ujjain entered Guinness Book of World Records for lighting more than 11 lakh earthen lamps simultaneously on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Ujjain have set a new record by lighting more than 11 lakh 71 thousand lamps simultaneously breaking the record of 9 lakh 41 thousand lamps lit in Ayodhya last November.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the ‘Shiv Jyoti Arpanam’ festival by lighting 15 diyas at Ramghat of Kshipra river.
The Assam government has declared the entire state as “Disturbed Area” for up to six months. The declaration has been made as per powers conferred under Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958.
