DRDO developed SpO2 based Supplemental Oxygen Delivery System.

Important Points To Remember:
  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed SpO2 (Blood Oxygen Saturation) supplemental Oxygen Delivery System for soldiers posted at extreme high-altitude areas.
  • It is developed by Defence Bio-Engineering & Electro Medical Laboratory (DEBEL), DRDO, Bengaluru.
  • The system delivers supplemental oxygen based on the SpO2 levels and prevents the person from sinking in to a state of Hypoxia, which is fatal in most cases, if sets in.
  • This automatic system can also prove to be a boon during the current Covid-19 situation.

INAS 323 commissioned at Goa as first unit of indigenously built ALH MK III enters Naval Service.

  • Indian Naval Air Squadron (INAS) 323, the first unit of the indigenously built ALH Mk III aircraft, was commissioned into the Indian Navy in the presence of Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Shripad Naik and Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Naval Command, at INS Hansa, Goa on 19 Apr 21.

Piyush Goyal launched the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme.

Important Points To Remember:
  • Railways, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS).
  • The Fund aims to provide financial assistance to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialization.
  • The Scheme was announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on 16th January 2021 in his Grand Plenaryaddress of ‘Prarambh: StartupIndia International Summit’.
  • Rs. 945 Crore corpus will be divided over the next 4 years for providing seed funding to eligible startups through eligible incubators across India. The scheme is expected to support an estimated 3,600 startups through 300 incubators.

Railways converted more than 4000 train coaches as COVID care-cum-isolation facility.

  • Railways has converted 4,002 train coaches as a COVID-19 care-cum-isolation facility to assist state governments facing shortage of beds in their states. These coaches will be allocated to state governments on request.
