Defence News:
Defence Ministry has signed an MoU to onboard pension services under the System for Pension Administration (Raksha), SPARSH initiative across over four lakh Common Service Centres. The MoU will provide last-mile connectivity to pensioners, especially those who reside in remote areas of the country.
The Acquisition Wing of the Defence Ministry signed a contract for 1075 crore rupees with Bharat Electronics Limited for the retro-modification of Commander Sight of Battle Tanks-T-90. The retro-modification will be carried out in 957 T-90 tanks of the Indian Army.

Central Excise Day is observed on February 24 and it commemorates the Central Excise and Salt Act which was enacted on 24th February 1944.
International News:
Bangladesh has appointed a US-based Government Relations (GR) firm “Nelson Mullins” to further strengthen the Dhaka-Washington ties.The appointment has been made for one year at a monthly payment of USD 20,000.
The World Bank has approved USD 300 million loan for Bangladesh to strengthen its local government institutions to respond to the Covid 19 pandemic and improve preparedness to future shocks benefitting about 40 million urban residents.
MoUs and Agreements:
World Economic Forum and the National Institute of Urban Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a jointly designed Sustainable Cities India program. The program is aimed to create an enabling environment for cities to generate de-carbonization solutions.
National News:
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh launched Ombudsperson App for MNREGA. This app will facilitate hassle free reporting, categorization of grievances and disposal of complaints by Ombudsperson. The app will also ensure tracking and timely passing of awards by Ombudsperson.
State News:
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the 12th edition of state wide Garib Kalyan Mela from Dahod. The purpose of the Mela is to provide direct benefits of various government schemes to the poor. The three-day campaign will be held in 33 districts- 4 metros across the state.
Telangana IT Minister KTR inaugurated 19th edition of BioAsia conference. BioAsia will discuss many topics related to Life Sciences – Covid challenges in the health sector for the next two days.
