Alka Mittal, first woman to head ONGC.

State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) Director HR (human resources), Alka Mittal, has been given additional charge of chairman and managing director, making her the first woman to head the energy major.

Shri G Asok Kumar takes over as the new Director General for the National Mission for Clean Ganga.

Shri G Asok Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti took over as the new Director General for the National Mission for Clean Ganga, Ministry of Jal Shakti. He belongs to the Indian Administrative Services Telangana Cadre 1991 batch. Before joining NMCG, he served as the Mission Director for National Water Mission.

About NMCG: On August 12, 2011, the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) was listed as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Indian government launched the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) to reduce pollution and ensure rejuvenation of the Ganga river.

Ms Vini Mahajan Assumes Charge as Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department Of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

Ms Vini Mahajan assumed the charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation.  Prior to this, she was serving as Punjab Chief Secretary from 26th June 2020. Earlier she served as Additional Chief Secretary of the Departments of Housing & Urban Development, Government of Punjab and Industries & Commerce, IT and Investment Promotion.

She was ACS/ Principal Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Welfare since April 2012 for 5 years. She also served as Principal Secretary Department of Medical Education and Research, and Principal Secretary Finance, Punjab. Ms Mahajan served as Joint Secretary to the Prime Minister of India from 2007-2012, and earlier in 2004-05 as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.

Dayapatra Nevatia appointed as president and chief operating officer (COO) of Infogain.

Infogain, a Silicon Valley-based digital platform and software engineering company, has appointed former Mindtree Ltd executive Dayapatra Nevatia as president and chief operating officer (COO).

Bharat Billpay launched UPMS.

NPCI Bharat BillPay on 4 January 2022 announced the launch of a Unified Presentment Management System (UPMS), which will enable users to set up standing instructions on their recurring bill payments across all channels and modes of digital payments.

PM Modi inaugurated the New Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the New Integrated Terminal Building of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport and launched key initiatives like Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana and Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools.

The New Integrated Terminal Building of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport is built at a cost of about Rs 450 crore and is a state of art building spread over 30,000 square metres having modern facilities and supported by the latest IT network-integrated system. Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools is aimed to improve the quality of education in the state by converting 100 existing High / Higher secondary schools to Vidyajyoti Schools with state of art facilities and quality education. The project will cover about 1.2 lakh students from Nursery to class XII and will cost around Rs 500 crores in the next three years.

Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana aims to achieve the benchmark standards for service delivery in core development sectors at the village level. The key sectors selected for this Yojana are household tap connections, domestic electricity connections, all-weather roads, functional toilets for every household, recommended immunization for every child, participation of women in Self Help Groups etc.

PM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various developmental projects in Imphal, Manipur.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated 13 Projects worth around Rs. 1850 crores and laid the foundation stone of 9 projects worth around Rs 2950 crore in Imphal, Manipur on 4th January 2022. These projects relate to diverse sectors such as Road Infrastructure, Drinking Water Supply, Health, Urban Development, Housing, Information Technology, Skill Development, Art and Culture, among others.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of construction of five National Highway Projects to be built at a cost of more than Rs 1700 crore. He inaugurated the Steel Bridge built over the Barak River on NH-37, at a cost of over Rs 75 crore, which would decongest traffic between Silchar and Imphal. He also dedicated to the people of Manipur 2387 mobile towers built at a cost of around Rs 1100 crores.

Prime Minister inaugurated ₹280 crore worth ‘Water Transmission system of Thoubal Multi-purpose project’, which will provide drinking water supply to the Imphal city; the Water Supply Scheme project built at the cost of Rs 65 crore, to provide safe drinking water to residents of ten habitations of Tamenglong district and the ‘Augmentation of Senapati District Headquarter Water Supply Scheme’ built at a cost of Rs. 51 crore to provide a regular water supply to the residents of the area.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a ‘State of the Art Cancer Hospital’ in Imphal worth around Rs. 160 crore on a PPP basis. He inaugurated the ‘200 Bedded Covid Hospital at Kiyamgei’ which has been set up at a cost of about Rs. 37 crore in collaboration with DRDO. He inaugurated three projects under ‘Imphal Smart City Mission’, developed at a cost of more than Rs 170 crore, including the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC)’, ‘Development of Western Riverfront on Imphal River (Phase I)’ and ‘Development of Mall Road at Thangal Bazar (Phase I)’.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of ‘Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT)’ to be built in the state at a cost of about Rs 200 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Manipur Institute of Performing Arts at Gurgaon, Haryana, to be built at a cost of more than Rs 240 crore.

Ayush Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal lays foundation stone for Heartfulness International Yoga academy.

The Union Ayush Minster Shri Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone for the Heartfulness International Yoga academy on 3rd January at Hyderabad. The Academy will set new benchmarks in yoga training. The Heartfulness International Yoga Academy comprises Yoga halls that can accommodate 100 Yoga students in each hall.

The 75 crore Suryanamaskar Initiative as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was inaugurated by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal. The 75-crore Suryanamaskar project is also a tribute to 75 years of India’s independence.

Union Education Minister launches NEAT 3.0 and AICTE prescribed technical books in regional languages.

Union Education Minister and Skill Development Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched NEAT 3.0, a single platform to provide the best-developed ed-tech solutions and courses to students of the country. The Minister also launched AICTE prescribed technical books in regional languages.

Dr. Jitendra Singh launches Web Portal for PM’s Excellence Award, says prize money doubled to 20 lakh rupees for awarded District or Organization.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has launched the Web Portal for PM’s Excellence Award. The registration for the Award began yesterday. Speaking after the launch, the Minister said, the entire concept and format of the PM’s Excellence Award has undergone a revolutionary change since 2014.

The prize money was also doubled this year from 10 lakh rupees to 20 lakh rupees to the awarded District or Organization.

State Current Affairs

Dubai’s Emaar group to develop 500,000 sq ft shopping mall in Srinagar.

Dubai-based realty firm Emaar Properties will develop a 5 lakh square feet shopping mall at Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the governments of Dubai and Jammu & Kashmir to facilitate investments into this proposed project.

This will be the first significant FDI investment in the union territory.
