Defence Ministry will host the 12th edition of prestigious biennial defence exhibition, DefExpo 2022, at Gandhinagar in Gujarat from 10th to 14th March.
Important Days:
World Obesity Day is observed globally on 4 March to promote practical solutions to end the global obesity crisis. The first World Obesity Day took place in 2015. World Obesity Day 2022 theme is ‘Everybody Needs to Act’.
International News:
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) banned athletes from Russia and Belarus from competing in the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics.
MoUs and Agreements:
Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Communications and H.E. Houlin Zhao, Secretary General of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) signed the Host Country Agreement (HCA) for the establishment of an Area Office & Innovation Centre of ITU in New Delhi on 3 March 2022. International Telecommunication Union is the United Nations specialised agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs. ITU currently has a membership of 193 countries.
Skyshade Daylights Private Limited Hyderabad signed an MoU with the Department of Science and Technology. Technology Development Board (TDB) will give five crore rupees of the ten crore project to Skyshade company for developing new technologies for basement illumination on round the clock basis.
National News:
The National Mission for Clean Ganga was awarded the ‘Special Jury Award’ at the 7th India Industry Water Conclave and 9th edition of FICCI Water Awards, held virtually, from 2nd to 3rd March, 2022.
The Government has approved over 1,682 crore rupees of additional Central assistance under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to five States and one Union Territory. Over 351 crore rupees to Andhra Pradesh, over 112 crore to Himachal Pradesh, over 492 crore to Karnataka, over 355 crore to Maharashtra, around 353 crore to Tamil Nadu and around 18 crore rupees to Puducherry have been granted.
State News:
Arunachal Pradesh will get a Greenfield Airport in Hollongi. Hollongi airport is to be operational on 15th August 2022.
