Awards and Honors:

The Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM) and Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority’s Vice Chairman Vinod Sharma have been selected for the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar for 2022 for their excellent work in disaster management.

The central government has instituted the annual award —Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar—to recognise and honour the invaluable contribution and selfless service rendered by individuals and organisations in India in the field of disaster management.

The award is announced every year on January 23, the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It carries a cash prize of ₹51 lakh and a certificate in the case of an institution and ₹5 lakh and a certificate in the case of an individual.

Republic Day celebrations begin with Parakram Divas (23 January) to mark 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year in India on 24 January. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the rights of a girl child and to promote the importance of their education, health, and nutrition. National Girl Child Day is an initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development.

National News:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a hologram statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate. This hologram would be in place till the work of the statue of Netaji is completed. The statue would be unveiled in the same place to mark the year-long celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
PM also conferred Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskars for the year 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 in the investiture ceremony. This award was instituted by the Union Government to recognize and honour the invaluable contribution and selfless service rendered by the individuals and organisations in India in the field of disaster management.

India has emerged as the largest exporter of cucumber and gherkins in the world. India has exported cucumber and gherkins to the tune of over one lakh 23 thousand Metric Tonnes with a value of 114 million US dollar during April to October 2020-21.

Obituaries News:

Renowned archaeologist and Padma Bhushan awardee Ramachandra Nagaswamy passed away. He served as a Director of the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department. He was awarded India’s third highest civilian award the Padma Bhushan in 2018.

P.V. Sindhu has won the Women’s singles title at the Syed Modi International tournament.

Ishan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto won the Mixed Doubles title at the Syed Modi International tournament.
