CGPDTM Exam Date 2024 (New Update): Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks (CGPDTM) The Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks administers the laws relating to Patents, Designs, Trade Marks & Geographical Indications of Goods in India. This year CGPDTM released official notification for the post of Patent Examiner. Exam was conducted by QCI and total vacancies are 553.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the CGPDTM Exam date 2024. CGPDTM Patent Officer prelims exam is successfully conducted on 21st December 2023 (Thursday). CGPDTM Mains Exam will be conducted on 25th January 2024 (Thursday).

Earlier Quality Council of India (QCI) conducted CGPDTM Prelims Exam on 3rd September 2023, but due to irregularities in the online examination, QCI decided to cancel the exam.
As per the Notice by QCI dated 4 September 2023, it states that- “Some Irregularities/ Technical Glitches have been observed in the Online Examination Conducted on 3rd September 2023 for recruitment of Examiners of Patents & Designs (Group ‘A’ officers) for the Office of CGPDTM.
Competent Authority has decided to cancel the examination to ensure fairness, credibility and transparency in the said recruitment process. The new schedule (CGPDTM Exam date) for examination shall be announced in due course.
Later on 19th October, QCI Chairman, Mr. Jaxay Shah Tweeted about CGPDTM Exam Date update, and agency changed. Here is the screenshot of Mr. Jaxay Shah’s Tweet.
Later on 26th October, QCI uploaded the same tweet on It’s official website, which states that- “Update: Following discussions with CGPDTM, the competent authority has decided that the Preliminary Examination for the recruitment of Examiners for Patents & Designs (Group A officers) at the Office of CGPDTM will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Further details regarding the examination will be shared by NTA in the coming days.”

Later on 23rd November 2023, An article was published in Times of India, which states that- ” NTA is now all set for further diversification as it has been entrusted to conduct exams similar to that of the Civil Services Examination.”
“NTA has not been entrusted with tests like that of the UPSC for gazette officer rank level-10 pay scale posts. We will be conducting the exams for the posts of examiner of patents and designs for the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT), ministry of commerce and industry in January 2024. This exam will be delivered in three parts — prelim, mains and interviews by NTA,” said Singh.
CGPDTM Prelims examination will be conducted in ONLINE mode only., It will consist of one paper of objective type multiple choice questions and will comprise of 150 marks. This examination will be of a duration of 2 hours. The medium of examination for preliminary and mains examination as well as interview shall be English only.

CGPDTM mains examination will be conducted in online and offline mode only and will consist of a written examination, which will consist of 2 papers i.e. Paper –I (CBT) and Paper –II (Descriptive answer). Paper I will be of 100 marks and Paper –II will be of 300 marks.
